Slufter-Noord
One of the jewels in the Dunes of Texel National Park crown is of course the Slufter. This unique area attracts a lot of different bird species. At the northern end of the Slufter (at the end of the Oorsprongweg), two volunteer birdwatchers stay in the wardens’ hut throughout the breeding season. These volunteers from Staatsbosbeheer can tell you about the Slufter and the birds present there. The birdwatching viewpoint gives good views over the area where species such as Spoonbill, Eider, Redshank, Greenshank, Grey Plover, Hen Harrier and Short-eared Owl are regularly seen.
During the Wadden Islands Bird Festival extra attention will be given to the birds and you will be able to take a look through the telescopes there.
