Texel Big Day 2019 registration now open

It is now possible for teams to register for the Texel Big Day on 11 May 2019.  2017, the first Big Day to raise money for charity in the Netherlands was held. The third ever Texel Big Day will take in 2019, and aims to raise money to help some bird into the dunes on Texel. Join in this 24 hour bird race and help support birds on Texel.

The Texel Big Day runs for the 24 hours of 11 May 2019, from midnight Friday evening to midnight on the Saturday evening. Teams consisting of 3-4 birdwatchers will be eligible to win in two categories: the team that observes the most species; and, most importantly, the team that raises the most money. All the money raised will be used by the charity ‘Texel Bird Island, to help House Martins on Texel.

Being in the Netherlands, the Texel Big Day will take place on bike. Like other years, the organisers will do its best to make e-bikes available to participants. You can of course use your own bike if you prefer. In order to participate, some prior knowledge of birds is needed. If you would like to take part but do not have your own team, the organisers will be able to put you in touch with others in the same situation.
